GSL Education London Branch is delighted to be recruiting a passionate Humanities Teacher to work in supportive and high-achieving secondary schools in Newham and Tower Hamlets. Starting in September 2025, this is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Humanities Teacher or an ambitious Early Career Teacher to make a difference and inspire the next generation.

As a Humanities Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across subjects such as History, Geography and Religious Studies, helping students develop a strong understanding of the world around them.

Responsibilities of a Humanities Teacher:

  • Deliver high-quality Humanities lessons to Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience is desirable)
  • Teach one or more subjects within Humanities: History, Geography or Religious Studies
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver creative and challenging lessons that engage all learners
  • Assess and monitor student progress and provide timely feedback
  • Promote a positive learning environment with high expectations for student behaviour and achievement
  • Work closely with other staff members to support whole school development
  • Take part in staff meetings, CPD, and school activities

Requirements for the Humanities Teacher role:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching Humanities subjects in UK secondary schools
  • Strong subject knowledge in History, Geography and/or Religious Studies
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A positive and professional attitude towards teaching and learning
  • Passion for education and supporting young people to achieve their best
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community
