About the Roles:Academics are currently working with a number of primary schools across Newport that are seeking Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistants for long-term placements starting in September 2025.

These roles offer a fantastic opportunity to support young learners in their early stages of education and make a real impact in the classroom. We have positions available in both Year 1 and Year 2, with varying responsibilities based on the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing the classroom
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to support learning and development
  • Help create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist with classroom resources, displays, and day-to-day routines
  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a primary school setting, ideally within Key Stage 1
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for supporting young learners
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
