Overview
A leading civil engineering and highways contractor is seeking an experienced Site Agent to join a major highways improvement project near Newton Abbot. This freelance Inside IR35 position offers an immediate start and is ideal for a hands-on professional with a proven track record in managing civil engineering or infrastructure schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of on-site operations.
Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards and company procedures.
Manage and interpret project design, programme, and budget requirements.
Supervise Sub Agents and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery.
Act as the main liaison point for stakeholders, maintaining clear and professional communication.
Develop construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements.
Work closely with the commercial team to produce cost reports and capture compensation events.
Manage direct resources including labour, plant, and materials.
Ensure activity plans, permits, and safe systems of work are in place before commencement.
Maintain detailed site records including diaries, resource logs, and quality documentation.
Essential Requirements
Civil Engineering or related qualification.
CSCS card.
SMSTS certification.
Full UK/EEC driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Proven experience managing highways or civil infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
