Do you want to build a career in manufacturing that actually goes somewhere?
Want to learn real skills with proper training and long-term stability?
Looking for consistent hours with your weekends back?
We're working with a leading manufacturer in Northampton who need General Assistants to join their production team.
- Between 13.50 and 14.50 per hour (depending on experience)
- 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm rotating weekly shifts
- Monday to Friday (your weekends are yours)
- Full training provided
- Clear progression into Machine Operator roles
- Based in Northampton
As a General Assistant, you'll be the backbone of the production floor, working alongside Machine Operators to keep everything running like clockwork. This isn't just a labouring job where you're treated like a number. You'll be learning the trade, getting hands-on with the machinery, and building skills that'll take you from assistant to operator. We're talking about a proper career path, not just a job.
Now, let's cut to the chase and talk about what's in it for you. Picture this: you'll be working for a manufacturer that actually invests in their people. They're not interested in churn and burn. They want to train you up, develop your skills, and see you progress. No micromanaging, no nonsense. Just get stuck in, learn the ropes, and grow with the business.
So, what will you be doing in this role? Here's the lowdown:
- You'll be supporting Machine Operators with setup and keeping production flowing smoothly. We're talking about hands-on work that matters.
- Loading and unloading materials across the production lines. You'll be keeping everything moving and learning how it all fits together.
- Getting stuck into ink changes, machine cleaning, and line maintenance between runs. The nitty-gritty stuff that keeps a manufacturing operation running properly.
- Keeping an eye on quality and flagging any issues before they become problems. You'll be developing that attention to detail that separates the good from the great.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workspace because nobody wants to work in chaos.
- General production and warehouse duties as needed. You'll be building a well-rounded skillset across the whole operation.
Now, let's talk about who we're looking for. We need someone with:
- Manufacturing or production experience is helpful, but not essential. If you're fresh to the industry but have the hunger to learn and the work ethic to back it up, we're all ears.
- Enthusiasm and a proper work ethic. You turn up on time, you graft, and you take pride in doing things properly.
- Attention to detail that would make a watchmaker jealous. Quality matters in print and packaging, and you need to spot when something's not right.
- Reliability and team player vibes. You're someone the team can count on, not someone who's going to let them down or cause drama.
- Physical fitness and comfort with manual handling. This is hands-on manufacturing, not sitting behind a desk eating biscuits.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn. Manufacturing can throw curveballs, but you're up for the challenge and ready to develop new skills.
