gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for an Electrical Controls Engineer to work at their facility based near Ellesmere Port

Performance Objectives

  • Electrical maintenance of plant equipment to minimise production down time.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate and troubleshoot problems.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing equipment, to ensure compatibility and safety of systems.
  • To liaise with other departments on a regular basis to help minimise downtime.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of plant equipment to minimise production down time and to identify and rectify all electrical problems on all forming machines and process equipment within the plant.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Ensure all work areas are left clean and tidy after work is completed.
  • Keep storage and shop areas in a neat, well-stocked, clean, organized Manner
  • Principles of the team.
  • Carry out all electrical activities within the plant in a smooth, safe and sufficient manner.

Person Specification

  • HNC/ HND electrical engineering
  • 18th Edition wiring regs
  • Experience using SAP
  • CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) Experience
  • Experience working within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment
  • Time served electrical engineering technician - Level 3 / ONC / City & Guilds qualified
  • Strong knowledge of complex electrical systems, including ones involving PLC's, Servo motors, and VFD's
  • Experience with industrial networks, such as Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet, Asi bus and Modbus
  • Robot programming experience (Fanuc)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Good communication skills
