Sustainability ConsultantSalary: Up to £40,000 (dependent on experience)Benefits: Competitive package including hybrid working, private healthcare, training, and professional membershipsLocation: Cheshire (hybrid working policy and flexible working hours)The OpportunityAn established provider of technical compliance and sustainability assessment services to the construction and development industry is looking for an experienced sustainability consultant to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing growth of the business and support a wide range of clients.The RoleThe position focuses on delivering technical project work, supporting a team of sustainability consultants, and developing sustainability strategies for projects across various sectors. The successful candidate will manage workflows, provide technical expertise, and contribute to a variety of interesting and impactful projects.The role is based in a collaborative and relaxed environment in the picturesque Cheshire countryside, with the option of hybrid working for greater flexibility.Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing technical reports, sustainability and energy statements, and conducting energy assessments
  • Undertaking embodied carbon and lifecycle analysis (LCA)
  • Managing SAP and EPC lodgements
  • Contributing to SBEM, DSM, and sustainability assessments such as BREEAM, Home Quality Mark, or SKA
  • Handling client enquiries, administrative tasks, and social media content
  • Engaging with clients, determining methodologies, and ensuring compliance with regulations and sustainability targets
  • Providing project management support and input into technical deliverables
Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will be a collaborative and motivated team player with at least two years of relevant experience.Requirements:
  • Strong numeracy, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Highly organised, self-disciplined, and adaptable to working collaboratively
  • Familiarity with UK building regulations, planning processes, and sustainability assessment criteria
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline, with progression towards professional qualifications (e.g., IEMA, CIBSE, LCC)
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with software such as One Click LCA, energy modelling tools (e.g., Elmhurst Design SAP, Design Builder, IES VE) is desirable but not essential
Additional Requirements:
  • A full UK driving licence (with fewer than 3 points)
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Right to work in the UK
