Operating within the manufacturing/engineering sector, this long established and very well-respected SME is on the lookout for a hands-on, commercially focused Finance Director. Reporting into the Chairman, you will have overall control of the company’s finances and join a highly experienced leadership team focused on developing new products, growing market share and driving the business forward.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Finance Department, ensuring effective day-to-day operations including reporting, invoicing, payroll, and financial tracking.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior executives to support key business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, legislation, and internal financial policies.
  • Oversee company finances, including budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting (monthly and annual) and all company secretarial duties
  • Implement and maintain strong financial controls, procedures, and risk management practices.
  • Develop and mentor finance team members, promoting job rotation and professional growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support business efficiency and fraud prevention.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A fully qualified accountant; ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW
  • Proven experience within a financial leadership role, preferably within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, reporting, tax compliance, and general financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with exceptional ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
