- Managing stock levels and department budgets to ensure commercial success
- Planning and delivering engaging events like author signings and seasonal promotions, working closely with the marketing team
- Building strong relationships with publishers, suppliers, authors, and the in-store retail team
- Attending trade shows and visiting other Jarrold branches when required (a full UK driving licence is essential)
- Someone with experience in the book trade – whether in buying, bookselling, publishing, or literary events
- A genuine love for books and a good grasp of what’s popular with readers
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to maintain and grow supplier relationships
- Strong organisational skills and a commercial mindset
