We are currently in partnership with a Council based in Norfolk, who are recruiting for a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Lawyer on an initial three-month temporary contract.

This is a fully remote role with an office attendance once every three months, on a full-time contract of 35 hours per week. This organisation is offering a negotiable rate dependent on experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • To provide clear professional legal advice and support to clients, with the support of specialist colleagues as required.
  • To provide advocacy in Courts, Tribunals, Public Inquiries, and other venues as required.
  • Helping clients to select a barrister and instructing where necessary.
  • Provide advice and guidance to junior lawyers and/or to other teams on own specialism/area of expertise.
  • Will work closely with Legal Officer, Senior Legal Officers in support of Senior Lawyers to progress legal matters in this specialist area of law
  • Maintaining correspondence with clients and solicitors representing other parties
  • Preparing statements, reports, contracts and other legal documents, as well as checking papers for cases
  • Negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives
  • Reviews outcomes and recommends appeals to senior management where appropriate
  • Ensuring necessary administration, including billing, is completed

Experience required:

  • Solicitor Barrister, FILEX, or similar legal qualification and authorised to conduct legal work

Working hours:

  • Full time (35 hours a week)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Evening meetings
