Were looking for a forward-thinking M&E Designer to join our growing team at RenEnergy. Youll be responsible for designing mechanical and electrical systems that power some of the UKs most exciting renewable energy projects. From concept to commissioning, your work will directly support our clients' shift to sustainable energy, helping businesses reduce their carbon footprint and gain energy independence.

Youll collaborate closely with engineers, project managers and installers to ensure designs are safe, compliant, cost-effective and high-performing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design M&E systems for commercial solar PV and battery storage installations
  • Produce layout drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Carry out load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations and standards (e.g. BS 7671, G99)
  • Liaise with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and DNOs
  • Support on-site assessments and feasibility studies
  • Assist with documentation, technical handovers, and commissioning support
  • Contribute to improving design processes, templates, and design tools

About You

  • Passionate about renewable energy and the role it plays in the future.
  • A natural problem-solver who enjoys finding simple solutions to complex challenges.
  • Detail-focused but also able to see the bigger picture.
  • Good communication and stakeholder skills.
  • Experience in M&E design within renewables, construction or building services
  • Confident using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, PV*Sol, PVsyst)
  • Understanding of energy systems, battery storage, or grid connections
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of UK regulations for electrical installations
  • Degree, HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical/Building Services Engineering
  • Familiarity with IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition desirable)
  • Any solar PV or battery storage-specific qualifications are a plus
