Our client is looking for a Neighbourhood Officer to join them for 1-2 months whilst they recruit perm.  You will have the chance to apply for the role perm as well.  Hybrid working you must be in the office 2 days a week.

  • Knowledge of Housing Legislation: Awareness of external support services and understanding of Housing Legislations and Tenancy Agreements.

  • Express information fluently and concisely to various audiences.
  • Tailor communication to the needs of the situation.
  • Establish positive relationships and promote a favourable impression of the organisation.
  • Maintain position and negotiate assertively, finding common ground while adapting style as appropriate.

Delegated Authority:

  • Work within agreed budget authority limits.
  • Support the delivery of the corporate strategy.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures, seeking approval for variations as necessary.

Key Activities:

  • Deliver tenancy and estate management services, including allocation and letting of empty homes and management of mutual exchanges.
  • Address anti-social behaviour in partnership with the community and relevant agencies.
  • Assist tenants in enjoying peaceful occupation of their homes, including attending County Court hearings for injunctions and possession.
  • Work with the Tenancy Support Team to ensure tenancy sustainment and improve life opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Income Recovery Team to maximise the Association’s income and assist tenants in arrears.
  • Provide tenants with advice on welfare benefits and other assistance to maximise household income.
  • Develop good neighbourhood relations and lead resident consultations.
  • Report safeguarding concerns and take appropriate legal action to safeguard tenants and the public.
  • Promote and facilitate resident involvement in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory legislation.

  • Driving Licence (essential for travel throughout Norfolk and North Suffolk).
  • Experience:
    • Understanding of tenancy agreements, housing legislation, and welfare benefits relevant to tenants in social housing.
    • Experience in multi-agency/partnership working.
    • Experience working with customers face-to-face and over the phone.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • CIH approved housing qualification or working towards one.
