Senior Company Accountant

Location: Nottingham

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: up to 40,000 per year DOE

About the Role

We're working on behalf of a successful, family-run business to recruit a Senior Finance Accountant. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced finance professional to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in a similar role, with the ability to hit the ground running, meet key performance targets, and provide accurate and timely financial reporting. Confidence using QuickBooks is desirable, as you'll be expected to take ownership of financial operations with minimal supervision.

This is a hands-on position that requires a high level of accuracy, initiative, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Complete bank reconciliations and ensure data accuracy
  • Manage VAT returns and ensure statutory compliance
  • Use QuickBooks to process transactions and generate reports
  • Support budgeting and cash flow forecasting
  • Provide financial insights to senior leadership
  • Meet and monitor high performance targets and KPIs

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Senior Finance / Accountant role
  • Advanced QuickBooks knowledge is essential
  • Solid understanding of UK accounting standards and compliance
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
