MATERNITY COVER - TEACHING ASSISTANT ROLE, KS1 - JANUARY START

I am working with one of our partner schools based in Nottingham who are in need of a highly experienced KS1 Teaching Assistant, this role is to cover maternity leave.

We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Primary School Teaching Assistants to support a range of welcoming primary schools. If you are passionate about helping children learn, grow, and succeed, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to support pupils across Key Stage 1, Your role will involve helping to deliver engaging lessons, supporting individual and small-group learning, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment. Ideally highly experienced with phonics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to pupils 1:1, in small groups, or across the whole class
  • Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities
  • Help set up and organise classroom resources
  • Support pupils with SEND or additional needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain classroom routines
  • Supervise pupils during transitions, break times, and activities
  • Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Work closely with teachers to support teaching and learning

Requirements

To apply, you must have:

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE or equivalent)

Recent UK school experience, ideally within a primary setting

A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Experience

Experience with phonics programmes such as Little Wandle

Knowledge of EYFS, KS1, or KS2 curriculum

Experience supporting SEND, EAL, or behavioural needs

Experience delivering small-group interventions
