Sustainable Building Services (SBS) is a multi-award-winning retrofit decarbonisation solutions provider and principal contractor delivering at scale across all housing tenure types — social, owner-occupied, and private rental homes.

As a leader in residential decarbonisation, energy efficiency, and whole-house retrofit, we currently manage and deliver over £100m+ large-scale retrofit schemes, blending funding across mixed-tenures to maximise positive impact across communities.

Our work directly improves the living conditions, health, comfort, and wellbeing of thousands of households each year — helping to reduce fuel poverty and address four of today’s greatest challenges: the cost of living, energy security, climate change, and public health.

We are now recruiting for a Site Manager to assume responsibility for the supervision and coordination of daily on-site activities.

You will manage on-site resources, RLOs, sub-contractors, site personnel, costs, quality and health and safety.

In addition to this, as our Site Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Leading day-to-day site coordination, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
  • Overseeing site logistics, resources, and materials, ensuring labour, subcontractors, and equipment are in place to meet programme requirements.
  • Managing health & safety on site, including reviewing RAMS, carrying out safety inspections, and delivering weekly toolbox talks.
  • Monitoring progress against the master programme, issuing weekly progress reports and liaising with the reporting Manager.
  • Maintaining strong control over materials procurement, deliveries, workmanship quality, and compliance with designs, regulations and company standards.
  • Working closely with surveyors on cost control, waste management, variations, and instructions.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, design teams, neighbours and other stakeholders, including chairing weekly review meetings.
  • Keeping accurate project records to ensure full traceability.
  • Supporting team development through mentoring and by undertaking relevant training.
  • Travelling within the region as required.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • SMSTS Qualification.
  • CSCS Card.
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • 2 years+ construction experience, managing projects, programmes and H&S requirements.
  • A full UK driving license.
  • Experience with solar PV programmes.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness.
  • Proficiency in IT (Excel / Word / Outlook).
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

It would be great if you had:

  • NVQ L6 Diploma in Construction Site Management.
  • Knowledge of current PAS2030 & 2035 requirements.
  • Energy efficiency and social housing experience.
  • Experience of retrofit process from assignments, designs and lodgements.
