Astute Recruitment are working with a stable company looking to expand their payroll department, this role will pay a key part to support the accurate and timely processing of the company’s payroll, ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time, in compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.

The role and responsibilities:

  • Working closely with internal departments to resolve payroll-related queries prior to submission and ensuring accuracy before final approval
  • Managing the processing of new starters, leavers, and associated payroll documentation
  • Accurately handling payroll adjustments, including sickness, unpaid leave, maternity leave, and additional hours
  • Performing post-payroll audits on payslips to identify and correct any discrepancies
  • Preparing and setting up bulk payment schedules for staff salary disbursements
  • Responding to payroll enquiries promptly and effectively to ensure smooth resolution
  • Compiling of reports for senior management

Personal Attributes:

  • At least 18 months recent experience in a payroll position
  • Ideally working knowledge of SAGE payroll and excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure payroll accuracy
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet payroll deadlines and support process improvements
