We are now looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Team Leader to join our collaborative Payroll function. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a motivated team and play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services for thousands of employees.



The Role

As Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the payroll team. You'll ensure compliance, drive process improvements, and support the Payroll Manager in delivering a best-in-class payroll service.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of payroll administrators, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and deadlines met.
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory regulations.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and provide expert advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and review payroll controls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submissions (e.g., HMRC, pension providers).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and help drive automation within the payroll function.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll reports and audits as required.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.


About You

  • Proven experience in a similar payroll leadership or senior administrator role
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to lead, support and influence.
