We are seeking a passionate and skilled Musical Arts Teacher to join our team and lead students on a journey through the rich world of music.

The RoleAs a Musical Arts Teacher, you will deliver engaging and dynamic lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5), covering a broad and inclusive music curriculum. You will nurture students' musical talents, whether they are beginners or advanced performers, and foster a lifelong appreciation for music in all its forms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in music theory, performance, and composition.
  • Teach a wide range of musical styles and genres, from classical to contemporary.
  • Prepare students for the GCSE and (if applicable) A-Level Music examinations.
  • Lead and support extracurricular music activities such as choirs, bands, ensembles, and school productions.
  • Organise and direct school concerts, performances, and community events.
  • Encourage the use of music technology and digital composition tools.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • A degree in Music, Music Education, or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching Music at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 essential; KS5 desirable).
  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and/or vocal performance.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, composition, and performance techniques.
  • Familiarity with music technology (e.g., GarageBand, Sibelius, Logic Pro, Ableton).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience directing ensembles, choirs, or orchestras.
  • Ability to teach music production or sound engineering.
  • Experience with diverse musical traditions and inclusive music education.
  • Willingness to contribute to whole-school arts initiatives and cross-curricular projects.
