We Build Recruitment are now looking to hire a detail-oriented and experiencedElectrical Estimatorto join our team.
Our client is a long established electrical contractor based in Greater Manchester with over 20 years experience in electrical installation projects within Healthcare, Commercial, Education and Industrial sectors
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to develop competitive bids.
- Analyze project requirements and identify risks, assumptions, and missing information.
- Perform quantity take-offs using manual or digital methods (e.g. Trimble).
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits, as required.
- Maintain and update a database of pricing, historical data, and subcontractor information.
- Support value engineering efforts and alternative bid proposals.
- Provide technical support and clarification during the handover to the project delivery team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an electrical estimator in the construction or related industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and installation practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software and digital take-off tools.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and specifications.
- Effective communication skills for working with vendors, clients, and internal teams.
- Attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree, diploma, or certification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software such as Trimble.
- Experience estimating projects in sectors such as commercial, industrial, or renewable energy.
