- Support the strategic and operational goals of the school.
- Responsible for overseeing the school's financial health.
- Ensuring robust financial planning, compliance, and control.
- Lead the day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Liaise with external auditors, banks, HMRC, and other stakeholders.
- Advise the senior leadership team and governors on financial performance and strategic planning.
- Oversee fee billing and credit control, working closely with the admissions and bursary teams.
- Manage and develop a small finance team with a focus on high standards, accuracy, and service.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant experience in financial management, ideally in an educational or not-for-profit setting.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
- Proficient in financial systems and Excel; experience with Sage or similar accounting software preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience within the independent school sector.
- Familiarity with charity accounting (SORP).
- Knowledge of school fee structures and pupil-related finance.
