SALARY - 35,000 to 45,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is working with a leading engineering company based in Oxfordshire that is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer. This position is ideal for someone who has worked within a regulated industry, such as defence, aerospace, automotive, or medical.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.)
- Experience working in a regulated environment such as aerospace, defence, automotive, or medical devices
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solidedge, Solidworks
- Strong understanding of design for manufacture (DFM), tolerances, and materials
- Experience with technical documentation, change control, and version management
- Good knowledge of relevant standards, certifications, or compliance procedures
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Designing mechanical components and assemblies in line with project requirements and industry regulations
- Creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings for production
- Collaborating with internal teams across R&D, manufacturing, and quality
- Participating in design reviews and ensuring documentation is kept up to date
- Supporting testing, validation, and prototyping activities
- Ensuring compliance with industry and customer standards throughout the design process
- Identifying opportunities to improve product performance, cost, and manufacturability
