Senior Stress Engineer - Contract Oxfordshire (Hybrid Working)Full-time | 40 hours per week Contract position Lead the Future of Clean Engineering An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Stress Engineer to join a high-growth engineering company at the forefront of zero-emissions technology. With global ambitions and active operations in the UK, US, and Australia, the business is committed to delivering clean energy solutions across multiple sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and heavy industry. This role sits within the structural analysis team and plays a critical part in supporting complex and high-impact engineering projects. You will be involved in all phases of development-from feasibility and concept direction to simulation, correlation, and validation. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, giving you the flexibility to balance on-site collaboration with remote work. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute structural stress simulations across multiple projects and industries.
  • Conduct implicit, explicit, modal, and fatigue analysis using tools such as Altair OptiStruct, RADIOSS, and nCode.
  • Provide technical leadership in the development of simulation methodologies, stress toolsets, and co-simulation processes.
  • Perform hand calculations for fixings, inserts, and bonded joints.
  • Generate load cases and post-process results for design reviews and customer presentations.
  • Engage directly with both internal and external clients in a client-facing engineering role.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional, matrixed project teams, managing your own workload across multiple workstreams.
  • Provide technical support for correlation, physical testing, and validation activities.
  • Assist with technical reviews, documentation, and approvals.

What You'll Need

  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of applied experience in stress simulation and structural analysis.
  • Strong expertise in at least two of the following:
  • Implicit analysis (ideally Altair OptiStruct)
  • Explicit analysis (ideally Altair RADIOSS or LS-Dyna)
  • Fatigue analysis (ideally nCode or FEMFAT)
  • Understanding of nonlinear analysis techniques.
  • Experience analysing metallic, polymeric, and composite structures.
  • Background in one or more sectors: automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or heavy vehicle engineering (e.g. mining trucks).
  • Familiarity with tools like CATIA V5, Siemens NX, and TeamCentre is a plus.
  • Practical testing or validation experience is highly desirable.
  • Working towards or already Chartered with IMechE, IET, or equivalent is beneficial.
