SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support (Cumbria)

Location: Cumbria
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 or Small Group Support
Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and challenging behaviour?

We are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of specialist schools and alternative provisions across Cumbria, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. Roles can include 1:1 support, small group work, or classroom-based assistance.

Whether you're an experienced TA or looking to move into SEN support, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH and additional needs in an educational setting

  • Provide 1:1 and group support, both academically and emotionally

  • Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Assist with personalised learning plans and therapeutic approaches

  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

  • Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment



About You:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH, trauma, or challenging behaviour

  • Resilient, calm and confident under pressure

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are an advantage

  • Team Teach or similar behaviour management training is desirable (training can be arranged)
