SEN Learning Mentor - Penzance

We're working with a forward-thinking school in Penzance seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Learning Mentor to support pupils across the school who require additional help to access learning. This role involves working both one-to-one and in small groups, helping to remove barriers to learning and provide consistent, targeted support.

Role Overview:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as children with physical needs.

  • Deliver tailored interventions to promote emotional regulation, focus, and independence

  • Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers and pastoral staff to implement support strategies

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model

  • Monitor progress and contribute to wider SEN provision across the school

What we're looking for:

  • Experience supporting young people or adults with SEN in a school or care setting

  • A patient, adaptable and empathetic approach

  • The ability to manage behaviour calmly and consistently

  • Knowledge of EHCPs, trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches is beneficial
