Key Responsibilities
- Reactive Maintenance: Rapidly diagnosing and fixing electrical faults on production equipment (motors, sensors, PLCs) during breakdowns.
- Planned Maintenance: Executing scheduled PPM tasks to prevent failures and optimize equipment performance.
- Fault Finding: Troubleshooting complex electrical issues in control systems, drives, and power supplies.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhering to electrical safety standards and site procedures, often requiring BS7671 18th Edition.
- Improvement: Identifying recurring faults and contributing to projects that enhance machinery efficiency.
- Documentation: Accurately recording all maintenance activities on site systems.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Electrical Expertise: Strong understanding of motors, inverters, PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
- Diagnostics: Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities under pressure.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to support mechanical colleagues and understand related systems (pneumatics/hydraulics).
- Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining high electrical safety standards.
- Problem Solving: Proactive approach to tackling maintenance challenges.
Typical Environment
- Manufacturing plants (food, automotive, general).
- Industrial facilities with automated machinery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Formal electrical qualification (e.g., Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds).
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Often requires knowledge of specific standards (e.g., 18th Edition wiring regulations).
