Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Peterlee, Durham

Pay Rate: 27.02 per hour

Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday, On-site

Contract Type: 12 Contract (Inside IR35)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join a leading global engineering and manufacturing organization based in Peterlee. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all incoming supplier materials meet strict quality standards and compliance requirements. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in quality assurance, supplier audits, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality assessments on incoming supplies, identifying potential defects or non-compliance.
  • Develop and implement supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and defect rates; drive improvements through corrective action and guidance.
  • Conduct audits of supplier facilities to ensure compliance with manufacturing and industry standards.
  • Support suppliers in enhancing quality through process optimization and quality assurance planning.
  • Generate detailed reports and analysis on supplier quality performance and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related discipline - or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in supplier quality engineering within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear feedback and reports.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and quality improvement techniques.

Desirable Experience & Skills

  • Proven knowledge of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, audit procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement, supplier evaluations, and manufacturing quality controls.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
