Butler Rose is working with a leading employer in Plymouth to recruit a Rent and Property Services Accountant. This is a permanent role that offers hybrid working.

Reporting into the Financial Controller and working within a friendly and supportive team, key duties of this role will include:

  • Taking ownership for setting of accurate rents for all tenure types and are compliant with government rent setting policies and directions from the Regulator of Social Housing, such as the Rent Standard.
  • Maintain an operational rents model showing current and projected rents for the next 5 years.
  • Ensure that all regulatory filing requirements are completed within the annual cycles.
  • Ensure the company is legally and regulatory compliant, including staying up to date with current legislation and regulations; implementing changes where required.
  • Undertake Rent Control Account reconciliation.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of internal stakeholders in finance and non-finance
  • Ensure that policies and procedures for service charges are documented and regularly updated
  • Liaise with & deal with Internal & External audit queries including supporting on the Annual Service Charge Certification.

The successful candidate will have excellent spreadsheet skills and the ability to analyse data and information from multiple sources. You will have a sound understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, management/statutory accounts and budget setting.
