Working with a busy academy trust, this trust covers schools in Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire., with the majority of their schools based in and around Plymouth. This is a hybrid role, involving some working from home, and travelling to sites.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Building Surveyor to join our team, bringing strategic insight and technical expertise to support the effective management of our estate.

The Building Surveyor will provide a comprehensive, high quality, solutions focused building surveying service across the Trust. Contributing to the transformation and continuous improvement of the estate, in support of the delivery of the Strategic Development Plan. The post holder will design, procure and administer construction projects across the estate. The post holder will also contribute to the development and maintenance of an asset management plan, along with providing building surveying services in relation to Trust growth and associated due diligence reports. The post holder will advise solutions to maintenance issues, including guidance on associated costs.

For this role the successful candidate will have:

Degree in Building Surveying.

A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in a building surveying role.

You will also need proven experience in administering JCT construction contracts.

Conducting building condition surveys, including proposing solutions and estimating costs.

Managing multiple construction and maintenance projects from specification to completion.

Ensuring statutory compliance and health & safety standards in construction projects.

Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of building surveying practices, relevant legislation, and health & safety compliance.

Familiarity with CDM regulations and legal contracts.

Experience in budget preparation and financial management, including interpreting reports and controlling costs.

Proficient in IT systems such as MS Project, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD.

Skilled in project management techniques, with the ability to handle multiple concurrent responsibilities effectively.
