A client within the Public Sector based in Dvon is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Facilities Management team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a property maintenance and compliance environment.The RoleKey purpose of the role is to deliver programmed and responsive maintenance works, condition and compliance-related surveys across the council’s property estate, ensuring statutory compliance and contributing to the delivery of the council’s Asset Management Plan.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Undertaking condition, asbestos, fire, and accessibility surveys across the estate.
  • Acting as the competent person for a defined area of building-related statutory compliance (e.g. fire safety, asbestos, radon).
  • Managing reactive and planned maintenance works, including preparing specifications, tender evaluation, and contractor oversight.
  • Supporting the delivery of capital and revenue projects up to £500,000 per annum.
  • Providing specialist technical advice and compliance monitoring for internal and external project teams.
The CandidateTo be considered for this role, you will require:
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Building Surveying or a relevant property subject.
  • Membership of or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB) within 18 months of appointment.
  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent in a relevant H&S area.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Knowledge of construction methods, planning and building regulations.
  • Strong project management and cost control skills.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD, digital mapping, and CRM systems.
