Experienced First Line IT Support Engineer required to work for global manufacturing company in Plymouth. Reporting to the Second Line IT Support Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing first line IT support to local users in Plymouth, supporting 2nd line IT team at Plymouth and satellite sites and the wider UK business.The objective of the role is to provide IT support to users by responding to calls placed through the IT Helpdesk both in person and via email and Teams and the telephone.You will be working as part of the team to ensure all IT systems and applications and end point hardware are running smoothly, whilst ensuring users are provided with a first-class customer service experience.

This is initially a three month temporary contract to facilitate resource transition but could potentially lead to a permanent role for the right person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high level of service in response to the IT-related demands of other functions within the organisation
  • Providing our users with a first-class level of customer service at all times, responding to IT support calls placed through the IT Helpdesk, via telephone and in person.
  • Ensure Effective communication of IT activities to relevant users and stakeholders
  • Working as part of the IT Support Team to ensure the smooth running of our IT systems and applications, ensuring excellent uptime levels across the multiple UK and Ireland sites.
  • Support the development and implementation of best practices in the IT infrastructure and systems: Ensuring necessary practices and processes are in place (with documentation as required) to comply with security and information needs
  • Understanding the needs and demands of departments within the organisation to quickly identify when issues need to be escalated, ensuring users receive the fastest possible service for their needs and critical issues are identified.
  • Having a flexible approach that understands the needs of the business and providing a solution lead attitude to resolve user issues.
  • Having knowledge and understanding of the company IT policies and procedures, ensuring that you and your team uphold them at all times and provide support across the business in relation to these.
  • Being motivated to drive your own personal development, through the achievement of formal qualifications and the experience gained working in the position.
  • Participate in regular Team meetings to discuss IT issues and tickets and projects.
  • Support training and development activities of IT team members and support/provide training to staff members when necessary.
  • Working as part of the wider IT Support Team to support the team in the achievement of its goals and objectives, understanding how this contributes to the success of the organisation as a whole.

Essential Experience, Qualifications and Candidate Attributes Required:

  • 5 GCSEs (A*-C) Including English and Maths. (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 Years Experience in an IT Support Role.
  • Experience in troubleshooting desktop, laptop, tablets, and mobile phone devices.
  • MS Office Knowledge (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Microsoft Client OS Knowledge including Windows 10/11.
  • Troubleshooting & supporting LOB Applications.
  • Troubleshooting & supporting Hardware (Printers and Wi-Fi)
  • Being passionate about providing first class customer service.
  • Good interpersonal skills being able to effectively work as part of a team.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels (verbally and in written) and as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to personal development, being motivated to complete independent study to achieve IT qualifications.
  • Able to effectively analyse and solve problems.
  • Full UK driving License as travel to other sites in Plymouth is required on an ad hoc basis.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 17:00 and Fridays 08:30 to 14:30, however flexibility to working hours to accommodate the needs of the business will also be required.
