Morson Talent are currently recruiting Welders to work on-site at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

Job Description

  • Working on ships, submarines and within a factory environment
  • Competent within some or all of the following FCAW and/or MMA
  • Be able to undertake regular welding requalification to meet required standards

Essential experience of the Welder

  • You will need the ability to read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to welding.
  • Ideally, you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience from other engineering sectors will be considered.
  • Experience working within a marine engineering environment

Qualifications for the Welder

  • Time served apprentice within the field of marine engineering / naval engineering environment
  • Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role
  • Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role

Full-time role, 35 hours standard a week, overtime possible but not guaranteed.

6 months initially.

The successful candidate will need to obtain Baseline Security clearance to fulfil this role.
