Overview:

The Technical Services Manager will lead the technical compliance and food safety initiatives. This pivotal role ensures products meet the highest standards of safety, legality, and quality, while fostering continuous improvement across the business. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to uphold our commitment to excellence.

Duties:

Quality Management System (QMS):

  • Develop, maintain, and improve QMS aligned with BRCGS, HACCP, and SALSA standards.
  • Lead internal audits and manage third-party audit readiness.

Food Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with UK/EU legislation and customer codes of practice.
  • Manage HACCP plans and conduct risk assessments.

Supplier & Customer Relations:

  • Oversee technical specifications for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Handle customer complaints and implement corrective actions.

Team Leadership:

  • Mentor and develop the technical services team.
  • Deliver training on food safety and quality standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with production and NPD teams to enhance product quality.
  • Analyse data to drive improvements and implement CAPA plans.
  • Maintain QMS that meets BRC and customer standards.
  • Achieve and sustain AA+ audit readiness.
  • Ensure global legal compliance of all products.
  • Deliver cost-efficient lab testing and effective root cause analysis.

Skills

  • Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Expertise in managing BRCGS and retailer audits.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proven experience in technical/quality management within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK/EU food legislation and standards.
