Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide day-to-day health and personal care support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, ensuring dignity and comfort in all tasks.
- Support students during therapy sessions and activities in specialised environments such as hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy spaces.
- Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver individualised care plans that promote well-being, engagement, and academic access.
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment, fostering student confidence, independence, and personal development.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical or care-related needs, adhering to always school protocols and safeguarding practices.
- Encourage student participation in enrichment activities, helping to build life skills and social confidence through a holistic, nurturing approach.
Candidate Expectations:
- Experience or a strong interest in supporting students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, ideally within an educational or care setting.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about therapeutic practices, including hydrotherapy, sensory integration, and the use of specialised therapy spaces.
- Compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to supporting student independence, confidence, and personal growth.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals in delivering integrated care and support.
- Ability to follow and contribute to individual healthcare and education plans, adapting support to meet each student’s unique physical, emotional, and learning needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality policies, ensuring the well-being of all students in a nurturing, respectful environment.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
