Assembly Technician – Poole
Ishida Europe is a World leader in the design, manufacture and installation of complete weighing and packing line solutions. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assembly Technician to join the Operations team in Poole.  

Main Purpose of the role
To assemble and test mechanical equipment and/or tooling in line with build specification and engineering drawings to a high quality finish and within the standard build times defined to meet agreed deadlines for production and R&D (WIP) schedules. Ensure high standards for right first time, efficiency, cost and service levels / on time delivery, team utilisation are consistently achieved. Provide fast resolution to any assembly issues identified and ensure good levels of communication with Operations Team. We’re looking for someone who aspires to lead and can grow into a future leadership position within the team.

Primary responsibilities

  • Responsibility for assembly and testing of mechanical equipment, machines and tooling on-time and to the correct specification and quality standards across Production and R&D.
     
  • To adhere to UK Health and Safety Regulations and safe working practices
     
  • To adhere to Ishida’s quality standards and shop floor discipline.
     
  • Ensure KPI targets for RFT, efficiency, utilisation, cost and service are consistently achieved.
     
  • To make positive contributions to continuous improvement activities.
     
  • To adhere to all deadlines and targets set by Production Manager.
     
  • Establish good working relationship with operational teams, planning, purchasing, sales and other key members of Operations.
     
  • Reporting of HR or Health and Safety issues to the Assembly Team Leader.

What skills are we looking for?
The successful candidate must have a time-served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, along with an HNC/HND or equivalent diploma level in Manufacturing, Management, or an Engineering discipline. A strong understanding of assembly and engineering processes, including the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, is essential. You must be skilled in managing safety risks within the working environment, ensuring the safety of yourself and others and be able to effectively communicate across teams. The ability to prioritize workload in accordance with customer demands and identify areas of process waste will be crucial. Additionally, the successful candidate should have prior experience working in both R&D and Production, with a keen ability to assess process suitability and solve problems using proven tools and techniques.

The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of part manufacturing processes and lean principles. Knowledge of industrial PLC software programming is highly desirable, as is having a counterbalance forklift license. You should also have exposure to leadership responsibilities, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in assembly or engineering within a relevant manufacturing environment. Experience working in an OEM-style manufacturing setting, where best practice assembly and engineering techniques are paramount, is also essential. The successful candidate must be comfortable working to tight deadlines and demonstrate a positive "can-do" attitude toward problem-solving.

You must be conscientious, disciplined, and enthusiastic, with strong organizational skills.
