About the Role:

Our client is seeking a talented Coastal Geomorphologist to join their Geomorphology team. You will work on projects that:

  • Repair ecosystems by restoring natural processes
  • Promote a nature-based approach to climate mitigation
  • Build resilience for coastal communities
  • Address the triple planetary crisis of pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change
  • Provide better places for people and nature
  • Apply principles to restore natural processes

The role involves geomorphology-related fieldwork, desk studies, and leading restoration and habitat creation projects. You will also support environmental compliance and collaborate with environmental and engineering teams to deliver projects in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert coastal geomorphological advice to internal teams
  • Manage projects and small teams, ensuring delivery to time, budget, and quality
  • Undertake site visits for habitat restoration, creation, and coastal/estuarine change assessments
  • Conduct feasibility studies and baseline coastal process assessments
  • Analyse datasets, GIS, and modelling outputs
  • Write concise, high-quality reports and present findings at workshops and client meetings
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with tender submissions and manage specialist sub-contractors
  • Support projects both in the UK and internationally


What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Proven coastal geomorphology experience with an interest in water and the environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organised, motivated, flexible, and able to work independently or in teams
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and take on additional responsibility as career progresses

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Geography or science-related degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering work in a professional environment
  • Desire to achieve chartered status (ICE, CIWEM, CGeog) or already chartered
  • Understanding of process-based coastal geomorphology
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary design teams, site assessments, coastal modelling, sediment transport, erosion, GIS, and report writing
  • Project management experience
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills:

  • Tender preparation, policy development, environmental impact assessment, mentoring, and contract management
