Senior Finance Assistant | Growing HealthTech Business | Wirral

A fast-growing technology company based on the Wirral is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Finance Assistant to support its day-to-day finance operations, with a particular focus on Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and assisting in the preparation of management accounts.

This established healthtech business develops innovative software for customers across the UK. With a solid client base and exciting growth plans, they're looking for a hands-on finance professional to support their next phase of development.

The Role

Working closely with the Finance Manager and Directors (with oversight from a fractional CFO), you'll play a key part in the finance function-ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and supporting the month-end process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Sales Ledger: raising and issuing invoices, allocating payments, credit control, and reconciling accounts

  • Overseeing the Purchase Ledger: processing invoices, handling supplier queries, preparing payment runs

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting financial reporting tasks

  • Reconciling bank transactions and maintaining accurate financial records

  • Ensuring VAT returns and financial compliance are completed on time

  • Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and analysis

  • Identifying and implementing improvements in finance processes and controls

What We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a finance assistant or accounts assistant role, ideally within a growing SME

  • Strong understanding of sales and purchase ledger processes

  • Exposure to or experience supporting management accounts preparation

  • Confident using Xero (or similar platforms) and Excel

  • A proactive attitude with strong attention to detail and time management

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a small team

  • AAT qualified, part-qualified, or QBE all considered

Salary & Benefits:
  • Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 DOE (open to part-time, ideally 4 days/week)
