Planner
Location: Preston

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well established and forward thinking planning consultancy in their search for a Planner to join their growing team in Preston.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Planner to take the next step in their career and work on an exciting and diverse range of projects across the North West and beyond. The role offers excellent scope for progression, hands on client exposure, and the chance to develop your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role
As a Planner, you'll work closely with senior colleagues on a wide variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed use developments. You'll be responsible for preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals, conducting research and site appraisals, and engaging with local authorities, clients, and stakeholders.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing planning statements, policy appraisals, and supporting documents

  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals

  • Undertaking site assessments and preparing planning appraisals

  • Monitoring local plan consultations and contributing to policy responses

  • Engaging with clients, architects, and local authorities throughout the planning process

  • Supporting senior team members in delivering high-quality planning advice

About You

  • Degree (and ideally a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • Working towards MRTPI accreditation or recently Chartered

  • 1-3 years' experience in a planning role, either within consultancy or local government

  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and current policy

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • A proactive and positive approach with a keen eye for detail
