About the Role:

As Lead Practitioner of Mathematics, you will be a key figure in shaping the vision and direction of the department. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and modelling outstanding teaching and learning practices in mathematics, inspiring both students and colleagues.
  • Developing and disseminating innovative pedagogical approaches within the Maths department, keeping abreast of current research and best practice.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and supporting colleagues to enhance their teaching skills and subject knowledge in mathematics.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the mathematics curriculum across all Key Stages [Specify KS3, KS4, KS5 if applicable], ensuring coherence, progression, and challenge.
  • Developing and implementing effective assessment strategies to accurately track student progress and inform teaching.
  • Analysing student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions.
  • Leading departmental professional development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Contributing to the development of departmental resources and promoting the use of innovative technologies in mathematics teaching.
  • Keeping abreast of national developments and initiatives in mathematics education.
  • Potentially leading specific departmental projects aimed at raising attainment or enhancing the student experience.
