- Work closely with individual pupils or small groups with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or physical disabilities.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing learning activities and adapting materials to meet individual needs.
- Promote inclusion and encourage social interaction among pupils.
- Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

- Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges or
- Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or
- Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools.
- Experience working in a mainstream or special school setting.
- Training in specific SEN strategies (e.g. Makaton, PECS, Team Teach).
- Experience supporting children with complex needs or EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
- Good literacy and numeracy skills – evidenced by GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grades 9–4 (A–C).
- Enhanced DBS check.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Provide references of previous employment.
- Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
