Programme Planning Manager (Major Projects)

Location: Based near Gatwick Airport - Hybrid working

Salary: Circa £86,000 + 5% Welcome Bonus + £4,750 Flex Allowance + up to 20% Bonus + Benefits

Red Sky Personnel is recruiting for a Programme Planning Manager to join a dynamic team working on a major infrastructure programme based near Gatwick Airport. This is an opportunity to be part of delivering a substantial investment plan, supporting the expansion and enhancement of critical operational and passenger facilities.

The Programme Planning Manager will play a vital role in supporting the Programme Manager in achieving strategic objectives by developing and implementing effective planning and assurance processes across a programme of high-value construction projects. These typically include diversionary works, civils and building construction, often in a live operational environment.

You'll be working within a multi-disciplinary team from the early stages of project development through to delivery and handover, ensuring projects remain aligned with business objectives.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Lead Planning Manager, you will take ownership of planning across all phases of the project lifecycle-from concept to closeout-ensuring that performance targets are met or exceeded.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the planning function across the major projects programme
  • Creating and maintaining schedules across the project lifecycle, including internal and external interfaces
  • Managing control programmes, assessing compensation events, and performing delay analysis
  • Supporting continuous improvement through the development of planning standards and mentoring junior team members
  • Driving efficiency, risk management, and consistent programme reporting
  • Promoting and upholding high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Planning Manager delivering infrastructure projects/programmes valued over £100 million
  • Background in construction or infrastructure sectors with experience leading small teams
  • Advanced user of Primavera P6 and strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven leadership ability to mentor and develop others
  • Flexible, adaptable mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
