Ackerman Pierce is currently supporting a leading local authority within West Sussex to recruit for a Social Worker in the Hospital Team within the Social Care industry. This will be on a permanent basis paying£39,862 to £47,181 per annum.About the Role:
  • As an experienced Social Worker, you will be accountable for delivering a statutory social work service for those people who need it. You will be completing proportionate strengths-based conversations that enable maximum participation for the individual, planning, reviews, and safeguarding enquiries. You will be responsible for ensuring that you are up to date with key developments and that business change is successfully implemented.
  • In the hospitals, we are looking for a candidate who can work collaboratively with individuals and effectively into the future, building on good partnership working with health colleagues. You will need to work inclusively with a diverse range of stakeholders and promote equality of opportunity. You’ll need to be able to manage conflicting and competing priorities while remaining resilient.
Responsibilities include;
  • Act as a professional representative for the service by working with a focus on ensuring the effective delivery of services to those people who access or need the service.
  • Manage a workload of complex cases including working alongside many other agencies, dealing with family dynamics, managing risk levels, and dealing with legal issue.
  • Develop effective working relationships and communicate effectively with those people who access or need the service, families, carers, colleagues, and other professionals in order to deliver the appropriate interventions and service delivery.
  • Pay attention to any issues of service delivery and the development, whilst ensuring attention to the business plans.
  • Responsible for promoting a strengths-based approach in your own practice, and for the application of creativity in support planning in exploring all potential options for meeting needs and outcomes, and consideration of the availability of resources across the service.
  • Represent the service at events and meetings with external agencies, making commitments as directed and agreed.
  • Report any allegation or suspicions of abuse or potential abuse of a vulnerable person to an immediate manager or supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work undertaken and produce case reports and correspondence for a variety of audiences including meetings, conferences, court, panels and other agencies. Responsible for the care of, accuracy, confidentiality, security and maintenance of all individuals’ records and related information, including highly sensitive and confidential adult/child protection issues.
  • Some responsibility for the supervision of unregistered practitioners, including contributing to the performance management and professional development of those staff.
  • This will include mentoring / coaching colleagues and assisting with the setting and monitoring of targets and objectives when necessary.
  • Support equality and diversity and respect individuals, carers and colleagues regardless of gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion or ethnic origin. Challenge oppressive practice and behaviour.
Minimum Requirements
  • HCPC Registration
  • Relevant social work qualification is needed 
  • Social Work England registration is required for this job.
  • Must be 2 years post qualified for this role
  • The job is subject to a DBS check (Enhanced)
