Financial Controller - Outsourced Services 

A boutique accounting and financial reporting consultancy has an opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join their dynamic and proactive team based in Theale. 

Reporting to the Finance Director you will be managing a portfolio of clients with a diverse range of internal and external reporting requirements.

Responsibilities will include : 

  • The preparation of management accounts, including the review of related workings prepared by more junior members of both internal team members and client teams
  • The preparation of information packs for board meetings
  • Analysing and presenting financial results to key stakeholders
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating variances
  • The preparation and update of cashflow forecasts
  • The preparation of VAT returns, and other compliance-related filings as required
  • The preparation of statutory financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Supporting with the external audit process
  • Supporting with ad hoc finance queries from our clients and their stakeholders
  • Build sustainable working relationships with clients, understand their businesses

This role will give you a lot of autonomy so it is imperative you are someone who will take initiative and seek out opportunities to continuously improve the current ways of working, whilst also supporting your own professional development.

Additional Requirements of the role : 

  • Fully qualified as an accountant, holding the ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong practical experience with preparing high quality and accurate financial information for a range of stakeholders, in practice and/or industry settings (ideally both)
  • Experience of applying the UK GAAP reporting framework and knowledge of the IFRS reporting framework
  • Experience with the month end process, including:  the preparation month end adjustments such as accruals, prepayments, revenue cut-off and fixed asset movements and Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and review
  • The preparation of management accounts and board packs
  • Experience of analysing and presenting financial results to clients
  • Experience of completing VAT returns
  • Experience of using accounting software e.g. Sage and Xero
  • Strong experience of Microsoft 365, in particular Excel
  • Confidence in challenging yourself and others to complete high quality technical documentation
  • Well-developed people management skills and experience of having direct reports
  • A track record of establishing and maintaining meaningful working relationships, both with internal colleagues and external clients
  • The ability to foster a collaborative team environment that promotes open communication
  • Experience of managing client projects from planning to completion.
