About the Role:

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Principal Engineer specialising in flood risk, river engineering and water management. You will lead the development and delivery of sustainable, nature-based solutions across multidisciplinary projects - from concept through to construction.

You'll collaborate closely with technical specialists across hydraulic modelling, environmental disciplines, and design, ensuring high-quality outcomes that protect communities and improve natural environments.

About Our Client:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver flood risk, river engineering and water management schemes
  • Design structures including culverts, weirs, outfalls, sluices and river walls in line with relevant standards
  • Lead option appraisals to create economic, sustainable engineering solutions
  • Produce detailed construction information, drawings and specifications
  • Collaborate with CAD Technicians to ensure clear and accurate design output
  • Undertake site visits, asset inspections and supervision of construction works
  • Support contract preparation, administration and NEC site supervision
  • Manage project coordination, client liaison and budget control
  • Mentor and support junior engineers


What Our Client is Looking For:

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status
  • Strong experience in flood risk or civil engineering design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; relevant engineering software beneficial
  • Familiarity with CESWI and NEC contracts desirable but not essential
  • A proactive team player with strong organisation and communication skills
