Reed Public Sector is seeking a highly skilled and experienced interim Principal Lawyer to lead and manage the Local Authority client's corporate Commercial Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional with a strong background in contract and procurement law, and a proven track record in managing a team of lawyers and paralegals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on contract and procurement law.
  • Manage and supervise a team of lawyers and paralegals.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector frameworks.
  • Handle commercial contracts, procurement, information management, IT, technology, construction, intellectual property, public law, and grant agreements.
  • Advise on JCT & NEC contracts.
  • Sit and advise on various boards within the Council.
  • (Desirable) Provide expertise in Company Law.

Qualifications:

  • Current practising certificate and entitlement to practice in England as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
  • Post qualification experience in contract and procurement rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
