About the Role:
YMCA Reading are looking for a compassionate and motivated Support Worker to join our dedicated team.
In this role, you’ll provide practical, emotional, and person-centred support to help our young people (including young parents), aged 18 – 25, gain the confidence and skills they need to move into independent living.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting residents, including 4 young parents, as part of our 40-unit service
  • Delivering tailored, person-centred support that encourages independence and builds self-esteem
  • Creating structured support plans using tools such as Outcome Stars and Risk Assessments
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to help residents achieve their goals
  • Keeping clear and accurate records using basic IT/admin skills

What we’re looking for:
We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Empathetic and resilient, with a genuine interest in supporting young people
  • Experienced in working with vulnerable young people and/or young parents
  • Skilled in communication and teamwork
  • Comfortable with basic admin and using a PC (training will be given on our systems)
  • Experienced in Safeguarding

Role details:

This is a part time position - 20 hours per week

  • Shift pattern: Between 8am – 9:30pm, on a rota, including weekend shifts
  • Part-time position with opportunities for learning, development, and career progression
