The Junior Maintenance Technician will support the maintenance team in ensuring that all machinery and site equipment are operating safely and efficiently. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in maintenance and engineering, offering hands-on experience and opportunities for training and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the completion of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks across site machinery and equipment.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems under supervision.

  • Carry out basic maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, lighting, and general building repairs.

  • Help maintain accurate maintenance records using maintenance management software (CMMS).

  • Participate in site safety checks, such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, and safety systems.

  • Work alongside senior technicians and external contractors during repair or installation projects.

  • Ensure a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with site health and safety procedures.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and production areas.

Essential Criteria
  • A keen interest in maintenance, engineering, or technical work.

  • GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) in English, Maths, and a Science subject (Physics or Chemistry preferred).

  • Good mechanical or electrical aptitude and willingness to learn.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or maintenance software.

  • Physically fit and able to work in environments that may involve lifting, climbing, or confined spaces.

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Criteria
  • Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ/BTEC/City & Guilds in Engineering, Maintenance, or a related field (or working towards completion).

  • Previous experience (including apprenticeship or work placement) in a maintenance, mechanical, or facilities environment.

  • Knowledge of safe working practices, risk assessments, and COSHH.

  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence or willingness to undertake training.
