Hours: 36.5 per week, days
Status: Contract (non-salaried)

We’re looking for a hands-on Resident Quality Technician to be based full-time at a automotive manufacturing facility in the Solihull area. You’ll act as the on-site liaison, supporting day-to-day quality, containment and problem-resolution activity on behalf of a leading Tier 1 supplier.

This role suits someone with a solid foundation in engineering or manufacturing quality, ideally early in their career but confident enough to work directly with production teams, customer contacts and internal stakeholders. If you’re local to Birmingham or Solihull and enjoy fast-paced, technical problem-solving, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll be doing
  • Acting as the daily quality liaison between the customer site and the Tier 1 supplier.

  • Validating problem definitions and ensuring all concerns are fully understood and documented.

  • Carrying out containment activities on site under supervision.

  • Coordinating with the plant to supply OK stock quickly to minimise downtime.

  • Supporting internal concern investigations and checks raised by the UK business unit.

  • Producing build appraisals showing how components integrate into the final product.

  • Preparing and issuing clear, structured daily resident reports.

  • Supporting pre-series trials, lineside inspections and containment for new or prototype components.

  • Assisting other UK plants when additional resident or containment support is required.

What you’ll need
  • Engineering or manufacturing background – ONC or equivalent ideal (HNC progression supported).

  • Experience in a fast-moving production or quality environment.

  • Good understanding of basic quality tools and structured problem-solving.

  • Useful knowledge of metal forming and fabrication processes.

  • Strong fault-finding ability and a logical, analytical mindset.

  • Confident communicator who can build relationships at all levels on a customer site.

  • Good organisation, high attention to detail and comfortable working under pressure.

  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently.

Why this role?
  • Great exposure to one of the UK’s leading automotive manufacturing environments.

  • Perfect stepping stone toward a full Quality Engineer position.

  • Competitive hourly rate with stable, daytime hours.

If you’re technically minded, confident working on a customer site and keen to build your quality career, we’d love to hear from you.
