Role: Fire Risk Assessor Validator
Location: Reigate, Surrey
Salary: up to £65k + Package
We are seeking an experienced and qualified BAFE SP205 Validator to join our Fire Risk & Compliance team. In this role, you will be responsible for independently validating fire risk assessments to ensure they meet the standards and competency requirements set out in the BAFE SP205 Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment Scheme. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of fire safety legislation, particularly the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and a solid background in conducting and auditing fire risk assessments in various premises.
Key Responsibilities:-
Review and validate fire risk assessments completed by assessors to ensure compliance with BAFE SP205 and associated national standards (e.g., PAS 79).

Verify that fire safety recommendations are appropriate, risk-rated, and legally defensible.

Ensure assessors meet the competency criteria and work within their scope of capability.

Provide constructive feedback and guidance to fire risk assessors to support continuous improvement and maintain scheme compliance.

Maintain detailed validation reports and accurate records of findings.

Participate in internal audits and support external certification body assessments.

Stay current with relevant fire safety laws, regulations, and best practices.

Occasionally conduct site visits to support validation activities and assess the accuracy of desk-based reviews.
Essential:
-
Current certification under the BAFE SP205 scheme or demonstrable experience in a validation or quality assurance role within a certified SP205 organization.

Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation (e.g., Fire Safety Order 2005, PAS 79).

Experience conducting, reviewing, or validating fire risk assessments across multiple building types.

High level of attention to detail and an analytical mindset.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and provide impartial, evidence-based judgment.
Desirable:

Registration with a recognized Fire Risk Assessor register (e.g., IFE, IFSM, FRACS, NAFRAR).

NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.

Prior experience as a fire risk assessor or auditor.

Knowledge of health and safety management systems and ISO standards.
