Tradewind Recruitment are urgently seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for a temporary interim role at a SEND provision across three sites in Rochdale. This is a full-time position with full responsibility for safeguarding across all locations.

The school offers education to pupils who are currently out of mainstream schooling due to a variety of reasons including permanent exclusion, emotional and behavioural difficulties, medical needs, pregnancy, or young parenthood. These settings require a highly vigilant and proactive safeguarding professional who can ensure a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead safeguarding strategy and implementation across three school sites
  • Act as the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns
  • Liaise effectively with staff, social services, and external agencies
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date safeguarding records
  • Support the wider pastoral and inclusion teams
  • Ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding duties and school policy

Ideal Candidate:

  • Recent experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and KCSIE
  • Confident in managing complex safeguarding cases and referrals
  • Experience in SEND or alternative provision is highly desirable
  • Calm, resilient, and passionate about pupil welfare
