JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Junior Proposal Engineer / Trainee Estimator Assistant who is numerate and proficient in Microsoft Office / 365, including Excel with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working as the Junior Proposal Engineer / Trainee Estimator Assistant you will support the Sales team on significant engineering projects, which provides the opportunity to learn and become skilled in hydraulic software. The software is used to design detailed layouts of sprinkler systems, including the placement of sprinkler heads, pipework, valves and any other components needed for the project. The software also allows you to calculate water flow rates, pressure losses and ensure the system can deliver the required water pressure. But don’t worry. You don’t need to know all this now as you’ll be trained on how to do this.

As the Junior Proposal Engineer / Trainee Estimator Assistant you’ll also provide cost estimates for projects, write proposals for sales bids and liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Junior Proposal Engineer / Trainee Estimator Assistant include:

  • Assisting the Sales team and collaborating on large scale projects
  • Learn and develop to be proficient in the use of hydraulic software
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Learn and develop skills in estimating, proposal writing, and customer relationship management
  • Learn to understand project specifications and client’s requirements
  • Learn and develop your knowledge of the various sprinkler design standards, working to LPC BSEN 12845, NFPA, and FM Global Standards
  • Fulfil administrative responsibilities, liaising with customers, suppliers, and managing enquiry workflow

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team, as well as independently
  • Outgoing and positive personality.
  • Detail, organized, and time management

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • AutoCAD experience
  • Engineering Background
