Principal Surveyor

We are seeking an Interim Principal Surveyor to join our small but dynamic Estates Team. This role involves a varied professional caseload, including valuation, landlord and tenant issues, disposals, property review, and other estate management matters. You will play a crucial role in supporting our Council's annual asset valuation programme and managing three workspace centres.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Undertake valuations and liaise with the Finance Team as part of the Council's asset valuation programme.
  • Support the Head of Estates in managing the Council's managed workspace centres.
  • Provide professional leadership in estate management, including commercial and residential property valuations, acquisitions, disposals, and landlord and tenant negotiations.
  • Engage in property reviews, asset management, and contribute to regeneration and redevelopment schemes.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Fellow or Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Demonstrable competence in an estates management environment.
  • Knowledge of valuation standards, property acquisitions and disposals, and landlord and tenant law.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report writing skills.
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and database management.
